A Great Weekend to be an Iron Girl

This Friday I'm heading out to Del Mar for the Aflac Iron Girl 5K/10K run on Saturday!  I've only been to California once, so this will be a treat.

I think this is the perfect weekend for this race.

First of all, Sunday is Mother's Day.  What better way to celebrate mothers, daughters and sisters than by getting out there and running a race with them?  At the finish line on Saturday, mothers are going to receive about that!!

Secondly, next week is National Women's Health Week.   I love the goals of this wonderful week.

National Women’s Health Week empowers women to make their health a top priority. With the theme “It’s Your Time,” the nationwide initiative encourages women to take simple steps for a longer, healthier, and happier life. Important steps include:
  • Getting at least 2 hours and 30 minutes of moderate physical activity, 1 hour and 15 minutes of vigorous physical activity, or a combination of both each week
  • Eating a nutritious diet
  • Visiting a health care professional to receive regular checkups and preventive screenings
  • Avoiding risky behaviors, such as smoking and not wearing a seatbelt
  • Paying attention to mental health, including getting enough sleep and managing stress

Woo-hoo!!  This goes hand-in-hand with the mission of Aflac Iron Girl , which is to empower women toward a healthy lifestyle!!

I'm going to be in Del Mar talking with more Aflac Iron Girls about the ways they are empowered by healthy living!!  Be sure to stay tuned on the Aflac Iron Girl Facebook page for my latest webisode!!
