Sorry I didn't come through with a full week of eating.  Noah woke up at 11:30 p.m. on Wednesday night with an ear ache, and I don't think I got more than 10 consecutive minutes of sleep for the the rest of the night.  The good news is, he is on antibiotics and the mend, but I am everything.  I have been eating according to the rules of the nutrition challenge, though, but that doesn't make for very interesting blogging, I've discovered, unless you want to hear about me eating another bowl of sweet potato casserole! I just can't get enough of that stuff.  Maybe you were saved by Noah's ear ache!!!

Anyway, I didn't train at all on Thursday because I was exhausted.  Today I had a great 2700 yard swim.  Some days swimming just feels so good, and today was one of those days.  I've really been working on my catch and pull, and I think it is starting to pay off in a smoother, more balanced stroke.  I find I am able to swim the same speed at a lower intensity, which is definitely good.  The plan for the weekend is a short run, maybe 35 minutes, and two trainer sessions.  I'll keep you posted.

Tonight as the boys were getting ready for bed, Noah and Ryan had one of the cutest moments together that I have seen in a very long time.  Noah was on the potty (he takes this a guy thing?  I mean, really, why would you want to spend more time on the toilet than is absolutely necessary?  I just don't get it.  Just do your business and be on your way!), and Ryan said he wanted to read Noah a book.  Ryan is in the early stages of reading, so we are really trying to encourage any solo reading efforts, so we said sure.  So Ryan pulls up the bathroom stool right in front of the toilet and reads Noah the whole book!  It was so cute.  He would read a page, then show Noah the picture, and Noah would ask questions.  Kel and I just watched. this is what it's like to enjoy my children!!

We are headed down to North Carolina on Monday to spend Thanksgiving with my dad, stepmom, brother and his girlfriend, who we are excited to meet for the first time.  The boys love it at Grandma's house, because they live on the water, and there is just so much for them to do outside (i.e. get very, very dirty).  I, on the other hand, always try very hard to keep my cool and maintain perspective about family, but generally always fail.  It's not that I don't love my dad and stepmom, it's just that they are very different from me and pretty much drive me a good way...I guess.  I don't know, maybe it has something to do with the 14 hour drive it takes us to get there.  Right, that's what brings on my temporary insansity.  Definitely...temporary...

Start praying for me right now!

  1. "why would you want to spend more time on the toilet than is absolutely necessary?" I wish I had a dollar (not a dime, bad economy) for every time I ask my husband/son this!

  2. Have fun in NC! Happy Turkey Day! Relax and enjoy yourself!

  3. your older reading to your younger while the latter is on the potty. methinks that's a story to tell at their future weddings! ;)

  4. Safe travels and Happy Thanksgiving, Kelly. By the way, I love the idea of posting what you ate with pics. I sometimes write down everything, but taking pictures of it has got some serious weight to it.

  5. Love the story about your boys! :)

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving! I can't wait to read all about it!

Woo-hoo!! I want to hear from you!
