We are leaving tomorrow for Connecticut and the Rev3Tri!! We decided to make a family vacation out of it, since the race is at an amusement park. There just happens to be a railroad museum close by, so Ryan will be in heaven!!
I'm a little nervous about the race, but not nearly as much as usual. I think that is because I'm not doing the bike leg, and am really thinking of it more as training for my race in July. Since we are traveling with the fam, there are also a lot of logistics to think about, and that is taking a lot of my mental energy.
The water temps are supposed to be in the 60's (brrrr), but the air temps are supposed to be in the 70's with sun, so that should be good racing weather. Kel is bringing his wetsuit too, so we are both going to take a little swim on Saturday. I have some Team Trakkers stuff to do on Saturday, including a team dinner with pro triathlete and trimommy Bree Wee (if you don't read her blog you should.) There will be other pros there too, but Bree is who I am most excited to rub shoulders with!
You will be able to follow my race on Sunday as well, in real time, courtesy Trakkers. You can go to the Trakkers website at http://www.trakkersgps.com/, scroll down and find my name (Kelly Covert, or it might be under Team Covert-Hughes), and click on follow. There will also be live coverage on the Rev3Tri website. That's right...I just found out...live coverage!! If you see me, please say only nice things!! Here are a few suggested comments: "Wow, she looks really good." "Man, she is really going fast!" "I can't believe she has two kids!" "What a super trimommy she is!"
My swim wave starts at 7:23 a.m.. My teammate, Tom Hughes, will be doing the bike (I'm sure, much faster than I could do it!), and then I will run the half-marathon! Please watch and send me lots of fast vibes!
